With the success of the initial prototypes of the Warrior Elite came additional
funding, resources, and an extended research and development profile. The
extended profile called for the research and development of four additional Gear
designs to fill a wide range of mission requirements. The first of these, meant
to fill the role of heavy assault Gear, was given the name Myrmidon.
The Myrmidon's primary function is to act as a multipurpose heavy weapons
platform for the defense of Peace River, and its purpose is reflected in it's
design. The crew compartment design was made with crew protection in mind. In
addition to heavy armor and reinforcement for the pilot, the entire crew
compartment was moved towards the rear of the chassis and away from the head
assembly.
